Volunteering can help you to obtain references, apply skills learned in study, re-skill or experience a new sector, gain experience in the English language or workplace. Most of all, volunteering gives you a chance to contribute to your community.
As Beehive Support Services has a broad range of supports it provides there are numerous positions available for our volunteers. The positions and brief descriptions are as follows:
Special Events Volunteer – These volunteers help out at special events like fundraisers. It could mean selling 50/50 tickets, face painting, taking admission at the door, selling baking, set-up, clean-up or any other job we may need assistance with.
Program Facilitating Volunteer – This position involves sharing your skills. This could involve anything from scrap-booking, photography, gardening, cooking, woodworking, writing, music, knitting or any other skills you may like to share. It can be one on one or in a group setting.
Recreational Volunteer – This volunteer placement involves accompanying individuals to recreational/leisure activities like going swimming, working out at the gym or going to a movie.
Pet Pals – This placement involves sharing your pets and love for animals with individuals at your home or theirs, it may include walks with pets.
Friendly Visitors – Friendly visitors are just that, people who stop by just to “hangout”, grab a cup of coffee and spend time with someone.
Board Member – If you are interested in influencing policy decisions for our not for profit organization and building community networks and acting as change catalysts in the community, maybe becoming a board member is something you would be interested in.
