Support Independent Living Program

The Beehive Support Services Association provides Supported Independent Living (SIL) services to those individuals who require or request them. The SIL Program differs from the 24 Hour Residential Program in that the Individual lives independently and only receives supports for those things that they are not as independent in as they want or need to be. The goal of the SIL Program is to assist the Individuals receiving services in maintaining and enhancing their level of independence.

The SIL Program operates any day of the week and any time of the week as determined by the Individual being supported in the program. The SIL Program runs interchangeably between the Individual’s home and locations that have been requested by the Individual such as but not limited to:

  • Financial Institutions
  • Retail Stores
  • Medical Facilities
  • Leisure & Recreational Locations
  • Family & Friend’s Homes

SIL supports are generally individualized one to one supports. The role of SIL staff is to role model and teach as these Individuals have previously accrued a significant level of independence and life skills. The one on one opportunities allow staff and Individuals to build on communication and interaction which facilitate problem solving, strengthening interpersonal skills, as well as developing healthy methods of expressing feelings, emotions, desires, and needs.

Some of the supports BSSA staff provide to the SIL Program are:

  • Health & Wellness
